LEAF Summer English Camp - English as an Additional Language Teacher
Location: Penzión Lagáň, Radava, the Slovak Republic
Dates:3.8. – 23.8. 2015

Main challenge: LEAF Summer English Camp is looking for experienced English as an Additional Language Teachers. Classroom responsibilities will include language classes six days a week. In addition to classroom assignments, teachers will sometimes lead evening activities and chaperone trips along with counselors. Successful candidates will report for training and orientation on Monday, August 3, 2015 and complete their duties on Sunday, August 23, 2015. Salary will be based on experience, and will include housing as well as meals.

In the aim to fulfill this mission, LEAF has launched a portfolio of programs focusing on

1. Improving education experience of talented high school students (e.g. mentoring portal, leadership camps, scholarships, teacher mentoring);
2. Mitigation of brain-drain (e.g. internships in Slovakia);
3. Development of talented young professionals (e.g. skill-based voluntary program).

What can you expect at the LEAF Summer English Camp
Goals of the Camp include:

• To enhance English language skills of participants and build their confidence in using English.
• To develop students in the four areas of ethics, excellence, entrepreneurial leadership and (civic) engagement
• To motivate them for further growth and action after the camps

We expect to welcome 50 students aged 13 to 16, 2/3 from Slovakia, 1/3 from Central Europe and international.
The camp offers all its participants full immersion in the English language for the duration of 19 days. Students will work in small groups of up to 10 students according to different skill levels, starting from the lower intermediate level. The curriculum will include topics related to the four program pillars – entrepreneurial leadership, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), Central European studies and character development.

What kind of person we look for:

• Minimum 2 years of English as an Additional Language teaching experience
• Enthusiasm, optimism, growth mindset, cultural sensitivity, responsibility, punctuality, patience, creativity 
• Availability for the Summer English Camp (Aug 3.-23 – ideally full time, minimum 8 am – 2:30 pm, 6 days/week), 

Advantage: 

• Knowledge of/teaching experience in/interest in one of the following components of the summer camp: entrepreneurship, leadership, sciences, Central European studies, character development, 
• Experience and passion for working with gifted and high ability middle or high school students
